Guerrilla shooting

This happens when your booked for a shoot, most of the time at the last possible minute for what ever reason; and you being the person you are actually agree to it. You would do this for one of many reasons, nothing is scheduled and your bored, money is good, your just starting out, as a favor to a friend etc... Well my point is you have no idea what your getting into.

I shot this last year for iFashion Network, it was a fun shoot. I had accepted this job because i was bored and needed  to occupy my time and glad I did. Although I do not recommend it I would probably do it again, just show up to a location and make it work, although come to think about it pretty much all shoots on location are kinda like this, you have a general idea but either way, you have to deliver. These two images were my favorite from that guerrilla shoot.

Retouching

The Wonderful world of retouching 

As one of my professors in grad school said "Any idiot with a camera, can call themselves a photographer, but as important as taking the picture is, what you do with it after is what matters."

I paraphrased that a bit could not remember his exact words but it was somewhere around that. My point is retouching is as much a part of the process as taking the image. Although not all photographers can retouch at the same time not all retouchers are photographers, but there is a certain class, that i am happy to be part of, that can do both. On this post none of these images is mine, they were all taken by different photographers I know and retouched by me. I love being a photographer but at the same time, I do not always want to behind the camera, sometimes i prefer to be infront of the computer with my tablet and headphones on listening to music as much as i can and retouching away!
I am proud to say being part of this special class, there is nothing that I have not shot and or retouched, love it!

Wild Nights

Lets get wasted!!! lol 

This as fun, you know when you have those amazing party nights. Life is good you look good just fun; thats what game me the inspiration for this shoot. I wanted to capture the few which u can remember from a night of fun.

Strobist info: I used off camera flash, held up by hand, so camera in one had and canon ex 430 in the other; and i used my mark II with a 24-105lens.

My Roommate the Singer

I took these pics to test out my ranger kit, great light and was an amazingly fun shoot. Love shooting portraits! I set this up in the kitchen of my apt. Below is the image of the set for the strobists out there. Also added a screen shot of my workflow during retouching.

Hipster Summer

Now the we are close to spring I look at these old images, and think of the fun times to come. New locations to find, deals and negotiations to make, travel plans to arrange and crew to contact. And after all the fun tons of images to go through, 1st select, final edit... retouch for web, adjust for print; I love being a photographer/retoucher/photo editor. Would not have it any other way!

Motel Fun

This was a fun shoot. I remember searching days for the perfect rundown motel which is alot harder than it sounds.

On the fifth day of the search I came across this fine Lime gem, in Marietta, Georgia. I booked a room, $65 and got started with the lighting and hair and make up. it was definitely a fun day, and luckily no bed bugs.

Strobist info: Top pic Elinchrom Ranger rx as speed, with a ring flash raised camera right and bx 400s for fill also few white cards for little extra.

For retouching I did not have to do much burn and dodge here and there a bit.

Sneak Preview

Here is a screen shot of some images i am working on from yesterday's shoot for iFashion Network. Still have some ways to go on retouching the images but I thought I should share. The shoot was great fun tons of food, I had a great assistant who is also a Doctor, yup you heard right an MD was my PA lol only in NY will post the finished images at a later date.
